Week 2 of lockdown workouts. Missing my squats and bench, but really enjoying my workouts at home. Monday floor press - 3 x 4 x 100kg @ RPE 8 Tuesday deadlifts - 3 x 160kg @ RPE 9 and 3 x 4 x 155kg. Week 6 Day 1.... I have to say, it has been really nice having a coach again, getting some feedback on technique & having programming done too. Loads are not heavy, but are challenging because of the movement which most times are things I've not really done much of, like sumo, or tempos etc . . Video 1 - 3ct eccentric skwot with the SSB. Set 1 of 3x10 @ 100kg (47% of LB 1RM) Video 2 - Paused Deficit Sumo. Set 1 of 2x6 @ 135kg (60% of conventional 1RM) Video 3 - Paused Deficit Sumo. Set 2 of 2x6 @ 135kg. Week 5 Day 4.... Wide Grip Larsson Presses for sets of 12 @ 75kg feeling ok, more fun than sets of 15. Using a really wide grip feels really odd for me, but after 5 weeks Larsson Presses are feeling ok. Other work was mainly accessories which is always nice for a Saturday workout. . . Still throwing in 3x3 Deficit Pause Sumos & 3x3 Sumo @ 75kg, my 1st warm-up weight on any deadlift just to work on technique. These extra 18 reps a week really help me to figure this lift out & find out what positioning feels good, today's goal was to remain as upright as possible and I had that on the majority of reps. . . Lastly there is a set of 8 from Wednesday night. This lift, the close grip spoto incline bench usimg the football bar is my absolute nemesis and 8reps at a poverty 67.5kg is super challenging. I do like doing something I'm really bad at because it's a chance to get better. . . If any of you actually read this then you'll know I've been squatting in flats for the past 5 weeks, since starting with a new coach. As someone that always used squat shoes, it has been quite a revelation. I feel I've adapted well and even though I dreaded using them at the start I've fully embraced it. The past weeks have seen me go off programme, not by much & so far I haven't been reprimanded. With some things I can be a little OCD so of course I have to squat a little low bar on the front squat day to feel things out a bit, took the coach's advice & things felt good. Nothing that is overly heavy or large amounts of volume and always after my main work so the effect is minimal in terms of adding damage that is not desired. . . Video 1 - 1x1 @ 150kg (71.5%) Video 2 - 1x2 @ 140kg (67%) Video 3 - 1x3 @ 120kg (57%) . . In addition, everything has been beltless so far, mainly because the belt isn't needed with the loads being used atm and this 150kg felt really good. Normally my last beltless warm-up on squats would be 135kg or 140kg & the 150kg felt really good. Probably a large combination of things, but I'm really enjoying training atm. . .
